Gaza: Italy contributes with 1 mln Euros at Unrwa Program

The Italian Foreign Ministry contributed with an additional 1 million Euros at the Unrwa Program Emergency Rehabilitation and Water Sanitation in Gaza. The initiative aims at rehabilitating the water pipes and at distributing drinking water to the Gaza’s population affected by contagious disease after Cast Lead operation.

As the experts of Emergency Office in Jerusalem said, the UN program aims at improving living conditions of refugees in the refugee camps of the Gaza Strip, trough the drainage of most inhabited areas and trough distribution of drinking water.
 
 This program is part of the Quick Response Plan, an emergency Plan set up immediately after the humanitarian crisis in December 2008.
 
The Italian Cooperation in the period December 2008-February 2009 funded Emergency initiatives addressing Gaza’s people needs, with a  budget of 7.9 million Euros.
 
 ‘Emergency Food and Shelter/Cash Assistance is one of the UN Program Italy contributed with 1.6 million Euros providing health kits, blankets and other emergency goods to poorest people.
