Center for Women's Empowerment launched in Jerico

On the occasion of the International Women's Day, last 9th of March, at the presence of Palestinian Authorities, the fourth Center for Women's Empowerment/ Towasol in the West Bank was launched at the Jerico Governorate. The Center is completely funded by the Italian Development Cooperation Office. 

The ceremony, chaired by the Palestinian Minister of Women Affairs, Rabiha Diab, the Governor of Jerico and Al-Aghar Kamel Hmeid, and by the gender advisor for the Italian Cooperation, Carla Pagano, marks the official starting of the WELOD Program 2010-2011, Women’s Empowerment and Local Development Program.
 
The Tawasol in Jerico ''is only one of the centers for the local development of Womens: the aim is to focus on a harmonized action between the Minister of Women Affairs, the Governorates of the West Bank and Women's Associations on civil society, using local resources'',  Carla Pagano said.
 
In details the program aims at ''training on economic issues, for the empowerment of women in the private sector, and for the new media and new Technologies'', the expert said.
