Advocacy and empowerment of young leaders
Under the initiative "empowerment and preparation of young leaders", fourteen Palestinian young men and young women with disabilities, received a degree, last 10th of December.
The ceremony came under the presence of the Palestinian Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Majida Al Masri, Representative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Marina Miconi, Representative of the Italian Cooperation Office in Jerusalem Dr. Rita Ricci, Representative of AISPO Ngo which is partner in the implementation of the project.
The initiative- which included 6 months of classes aimed at the empowerment of young people with disabilities in order to make them learn advocacy techniques- is part of a bigger project on disability and handicap, promoted by the Italian Development Cooperation and funded with 536,000 Euros.
History of the movement of people with disabilities and psychological and social sustainability of people, were part of the matters discussed during the classes.
The Representative of Qader delivered to the Minister the draft memorandum of the Project “amendments to the law of the rights of disabled Palestinians, and the initiative to facilitate the public places in Hebron and Bethlehem Governorates.
Dr. Rita Ricci confirmed the commitment of the Italian Cooperation to support Palestine in the development community sector, specifically the sector of people with disabilities. Dr. Ricci praised the efforts of AISPO and Qader for Community Development for its achievements and commitments towards the issues of the people with disabilities.
